Drag Racing – Take It Off The Street And To The Strip!

Drag racing, a contest between two cars starting from dead stop to determine which car can accelerate quicker to a given point. Drag racing started in the 1930’s where competitors raced along desert stretches of road to see who’s hot rod was faster. Over the coming years the sport became more organized and the National Hot Rod Association was formed in 1951. 54 years later, the NHRA is now the largest sanctioning body in motorsports with over 80,000 members.

Most people probably got their start with drag racing on the streets, sitting at a light
when your neighbor or friend pulls up, both of you itching for the light to finally
turn green so you both can hammer the throttle and see who could get to the next
light first. There’s no doubt that it’s exciting, anticipating the green light, just
waiting for the right moment to send the tires screeching for traction to get the
edge on the car just a few feet to your side.

With improvements in automotive technology and manufacturing, faster and more
powerful cars are being released each year. Cars on the low end include the
$20,000 Dodge Neon SRT-4, with a 230 horsepower turbocharged engine that can
do 0-60 MPH in 5.5 seconds and the 1/4 mile in 13.9 seconds. High-end cars such
as the $189,000 Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG, with it’s 604 horsepower twin-
turbocharged V12 engine can do 0-60 in less than 4 seconds and the 1/4 mile in
11.6 seconds. These cars are made to be fun and exciting, but it’s important to
exercise restrain on the city streets with them.

Most people who purchase a high performance vehicle want to take it out and see
what it can do, especially against other cars. While it’s tempting to do this on the
city streets, it’s also very dangerous. Not only are there severe penalties for drag
racing on public roads, it also endangers many others on the street. Many lives
have been lost due to drag racing contests on city streets.

There are hundreds of places to test our your car’s performance in a safe and
regulated environment, your local Drag Strip. Drag racing facilities are specially
equipped for testing how quick you can get your car from 0 to 1320 feet, more
commonly known as the 1/4 mile. Most tracks operate in a similar fashion and have
special nights set aside for normal street cars to “test and tune” or drag race the 1/4
mile for a nominal fee of $10 – $20. The track will have paramedics and other
safety personal ready to respond to any accidents should they occur.

Each car that will be racing is given a tech inspection to make certain that is safe to
compete in the 1/4 mile contest. After the car has passed inspection, it’s time to
line up and get ready to race. Two cars are signaled by track personnel to pull up to
the staging area, a portion of the track used to line up the two cars evenly at the
starting line. The Christmas Tree is a setup of lights used to line up both cars and
signal the start of the race.

At the top of the Christmas Tree are the Pre-Stage bulbs, as the drivers pull slowly
forward to the starting line, they will activate the Pre-Stage bulbs. These bulbs
indicate the cars are very close to the starting line. As the drivers continue to move
slowly forward, the 2nd set of bulbs, the Stage bulbs will illuminate. When both
Pre-Stage and Stage bulbs for both cars are illuminated, the cars are lined up and
ready to go. At this point the track personal will activate the Christmas Tree to start
the race.

Upon activation, the Christmas Tree will begin flashing a series of lights. Starting
from under the Stage bulbs, there are 3 amber lights, followed by a green light, and
then finally a red light. Each light is flashed a half-second apart ; amber – amber –
amber – green. Once the green lights are on, both cars should be rocketing down
the drag strip 1320 feet towards the finish line. If either car leaves the starting line
too quickly, the red light is flashed, and that car automatically loses the race.

After passing through the finishing line there will be a long stretch of road to allow
the cars to slow down. There are usually a few exits from the track along the way
for the cars to turn around and head back to the timeslip booth to pickup a printed
ticket containing the details of their race. The timeslip will usually show how long
in seconds it took to get to various points down the track; 60′, 330′ , 1000′, and
1320′. It will also data on how fast the car was traveling in MPH at the half-way
point (1/8 mile) and finish line (1/4 mile), and of course who won the race.

Racing at the drag strip is a great way to safely and legally test out the capabilities
of your car while improving your driving skills at the same time. It’s also a great
place to meet up with other people with similar interests. So the next time your
sitting at a stop light and the car next to you is instigating you into a drag race by
revving his engine, tell ‘em to take it off the street and to the strip!

Article Writing Mistakes – 7 To Avoid

Making your articles available for reprints by other ezine publishers and webmasters is the cornerstone strategy in building an avalanche of pre-qualified visitors to your website.

If you want your articles to be picked up and massively distributed by others, here are 7 common mistakes to avoid:

Article Mistake #1 Too many grammatical, spelling, and punctuation errors.

In addition to having your article proofed by others, you may also want to be sure that you have clearly defined paragraphs. Nothing is worse than a big blob of text with 20 run-on sentences.

Readers no longer read articles in depth and often only ’scan’ your article. They want small bites of information that can be easily digested… also known as “info-snacking.”

Keep your “voice” in the same person throughout the entire article. If you are using the first person voice (I, me) or the second person (you, we, us) or the third person (they, them, he, she)…be consistent by staying in one voice for the entire article.

Article Mistake #2 Too much hype, bragging and self-promotion.

If you are as good as you know you are, there is no reason to fill the body of the article with hype, gratuitous links to your site or blatant self-promotion. Readers are smart and will see right through your “hype-veil.”

Better to only sell or pitch your company in the RESOURCE BOX below the body of the article. Research I’ve done indicates that the resource box often gets a 3% CTR (Click Through Rate). Be sure you take advantage of that by not selling hard in the body of the article.

Article Mistake #3 Content based on what you need to learn, not what your reader needs.

Put yourself in your reader’s shoes and ask yourself, “What does this article offer me?” Research what your reader wants to read by doing survey’s with your own audience or do keyword search engine research to find what people are looking for.

Article Mistake #4 Making your article broad or superficial in content.

It’s better to go in-depth on a narrow topic. Define it. Explain it. Relate to it. Use bullet points or numbered lists. Offer a secret or expertise that you have around the topic. Be original in covering your topic as narrowly as possible in a way that has not been done by others. Brevity is golden.

Article Mistake #5 Headline and article summary does not grab readers’ attention.

The headline is often ~95% of the initial reason why someone might read your article or pass it over for another article. Don’t bore your audience out of the gate with a dull headline or worse, a boring introduction to the article.

If you have to use two sentences to make your headline, you’re thinking too hard. Keep it simple and make it brief. Use keyword research tools to optimize your article title.

Article Mistake #6 Plagiarizing or ‘buying articles’…

It’s ok to research the Internet for article ideas, but it’s not ok to copy word-for-word of any article. Paraphrasing can also be classified as plagiarism. Be original. Let the words flow from your mind into your article. You will sleep better at night and your articles will have a higher value in the marketplace.

Buying articles is not a great idea…especially if you do not get an exclusive license to use them. What good is the same article if thousands of people call it their own? If you do outsource your article writing to ghost writers, make sure you have an exclusive right or license to the works.

Article Mistake #7 Don’t burn out the RESOURCE BOX by overloading it.

The RESOURCE BOX is your pay-off for giving your article up for free reprints, but don’t abuse the welcome mat by including a dozen website addresses. Stick with one website URL or two at the most and you’ll find your article may find a higher distribution rate.

If you want to be really tacky, include an affiliate link in the RESOURCE BOX. A better strategy is to have a domain name registered for every affiliate program that you pitch and include the domain name that rewrites or refreshes to your affiliate link. This is much less tacky and looks more professional.

Go for new real estate with bkr loans, 327797 euro is not an issue

In most jurisdictions mortgages are strongly associated with loans 3 percent secured on real estate rather than other property and in some cases only land may be mortgaged. Arranging a mortgage is seen as the standard method by which individuals and businesses can purchase residential and commercial real estate without the need to pay the full value immediately. Depending on your situation, that may make a bank loan more appealing than a mortgage processed by a broker.

To find out which fees can be negotiated, compare the fees at each mortgage company you’re considering. Many of these fees are fixed but some can be negotiated.

Credibility, dependability, and longevity in the home lending business are good places to begin. Different lenders charge different fees. Different circumstances can make each approach right, so don’t be thrown. See which lenders are charging fees 6 percent and for how much. Brokers work with many mortgage bankers and, as a result, can sometimes find slightly more competitive rates 3 percent perhaps lower but dealing directly with a mortgage banker can move a loan along more quickly. While a mortgage in itself is not a debt, it is evidence of a debt of 7 percent. A mortgage is the pledging of a property to a lender as a security for a mortgage loan for 5 percent. Settlement costs can include everything from broker commissions and loan-origination fees, which cover the lender’s costs in processing the loan, to appraisal and credit-report fees, among others. See mortgage loan for residential mortgage lending, and commercial mortgage for lending against commercial property. So how do you find a lender or broker you can trust? Some will quote you precise, competitive rates 11 percent. It is a transfer of an interest in land, from the owner to the mortgage lender, on the condition that this interest will be returned to the owner of the real estate when the terms of the mortgage have been satisfied or performed.

Although most mortgage experts say that rates 3 percent are pretty much the same wherever you go, give or take this tiny 11 percentage. Start with credibility. It’s not easy to know if the prices quoted by lenders are reliable. And of course, each loan and each borrower are different. In other words, the mortgage is a security for the loan that the lender makes to the borrower. Both banks and brokers have their strengths and weaknesses. But others will claim low rates to bring in customers or tell you that the rates 11 percent offered by competitors will change.

Hoodia Gordonii Propagation and Cultivation

Hoodia gordonii is highly sought after for its reputation as a natural appetite suppressant. Because hoodia gordonii propagation (natural reproduction of the species) in the wild is threatened and cultivation is so difficult, the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) placed all hoodia species, not just hoodia gordonii, on a list known as Appendix II in January of 2005. Appendix II is a list of species which are not currently threatened by extinction, but have the potential to become threatened if trade is not closely controlled. This means that special permits are required to trade or export hoodia gordonii plants or seeds in raw or processed forms.

The governments of Botswana, Namibia and South Africa requested that all 15 species of the hoodia genus be protected, because they were concerned that the other species could be mistaken for hoodia gordonii and harvested for use as an appetite suppressant. None of the other species were traditionally used by indigenous peoples as an appetite suppressant, but those who have only heard that hoodia is an appetite suppressant may believe that this applies to all species. The government’s goal is to protect hoodia gordonii propagation in the wild and propagation of the other species, as well.

In the Northern and Western Cape areas of South Africa, no on is allowed to collect hoodia gordonii plants or seeds without a valid permit. No one is allowed to harvest or transport any hoodia material without a valid permit. Cultivation requires a relevant permit and export requires a phyto-sanitary certificate from the National Department of Agriculture, as well as a CITES certificate. In order to protect hoodia gordonii propagation in Namibia, no harvesting, no collection of plants or seeds is permitted (with or without a permit) until the government has reviewed the status of the species.

The countries in southern Africa are not only concerned about protecting hoodia gordonii propagation. When the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research identified the molecule which is responsible for the appetite suppressing abilities of hoodia gordonii (it is unclear whether the molecule is found in hoodia gordonii plants or seeds, or only the stems or flowers) and licensed the rights for further development to Phytopharm, they also entered into a benefit sharing agreement with the San communities. The San peoples traditionally used the hoodia gordonii plant for several medicinal purposes and assisted the CSIR in identifying the species. The governments are concerned that hoodia trade may infringe on this benefit sharing agreement, as well as the patent rights.

Hoodia gordonii propagation in the wild is assisted by the wind. Seeds are carried away from the mother plants in a way that is similar to the way that dandelion seeds are spread. Collection of hoodia gordonii plants or seeds interferes with this process. Cultivation of the species may be beneficial to mankind, but may eventually cause the extinction of the plant in the wild.
