Will Insects Rule After Humans Become Extinct?

With all this global warming, climate change and climate cliff scares mankind is not sitting in such a wonderful place in the next period as our ancestors of the past period assumed we would be. And that led on online think tank recently to take up the subject of what if humans become extinct? After all the dinosaurs where much tougher creatures than we and they are all gone now you see?

One online think tank member Warren states; “I expect that they will be the ones who inherit the earth, not us; just consider the cockroach.”

Yes the predictions are in and there are many possible players; scorpions, cockroaches, locusts, bees, ants, squids and they are all much better adapted and robust than the human design for all the possibilities of cataclysmic evolution. However the large human brain and technology man is creating and the will to survive seems to be a heck of a great reason to not count the human species out entirely.

Partly mankind’s warring ways are driving him to these new technologies to protect him against the most deadly of all species; himself. Meaning he has good practice at being the top dog on the surface of the planet or right below its surface for many more moons. So, we must also consider that when predicting which species will dominate in the next 50,000 or so years. And I bet humans will not even look the same then. Consider it.

Is Your Life Spinning Out of Control? Three sure-fire strategies for getting control back and gainin

We all go through periods in our lives when we feel like it is spinning out of control and we don’t know what to do about it. It may be because of an unexpected tragedy that rocks us to our core and causes us to re-evaluate what is most important to us. It could be because we are going through a more positive, yet stressful, experience by choice, like planning a wedding or moving to a new and exciting place. Or it could just be because we have a hard time saying no and have too many commitments. Whatever the case may be, we can all relate to the experience of feeling out of control. But how do we get that control back? The following are three sure-fire strategies that you can apply today to begin to get a sense of control and feel some peace of mind.

Take a few minutes to just stop and breathe. This is perhaps the most powerful way of gaining control in the moment that you can do. I even suggest that you sandwich your day with this practice. Before you get out of bed in the morning take just five minutes to breathe. Just focus on your breath. This technique is very calming. You are going to be tempted to start thinking about all you have to do that day or whatever worries are on your mind, but go back to your breath. You can think later, but for now, just breathe. A calm mind will be much more efficient than one that is hopping from thought to thought. Do it again before you go to sleep. Are you having trouble sleeping? This can help you calm your mind so you can get some rest and be more efficient the next day. Use this technique throughout the day whenever you start to feel that “pumped up” feeling. You will immediately begin to feel more in control and at peace.

Prioritize. You can prioritize for the day, for the week, for your life, or even for just the next moment. Sometimes that is all we can handle. Any level or depth of prioritizing will help you gain control. Prioritizing means choice. You choose what is most important to you at any given time. You always have the power to choose. Even when events happen to you that are out of your control, you can choose how you respond to them. In that moment you prioritize your thoughts and feelings. You may say that you can’t control your feelings, and this is true to a degree. You may not be able to control your initial reaction, but you can choose how you will think about a situation, which will eventually lead to how you feel about it. As you begin to feel as though you are gaining control, you can then begin to prioritize for the long term. The more you think about and decide what is most important to you, the more you will operate from a place of conscious choice. As you do this, you will have more feelings of control and peace.

Focus on doing one thing at a time. I know in this day and age of multi-tasking we think we can’t get enough done if we are not doing more than one thing at a time. But is this really true? Have you ever noticed that the things we do with only half our attention, we often have to do over? Generally, when we give our tasks the undivided attention they truly require, we can get more done more efficiently. Just try this for a day and see what you can get accomplished.

What are you willing to begin today? Commit to at least one strategy, notice the effects, and you will want to incorporate all three. Applying these strategies during stressful times will help you gain a sense of control in your life. If you also begin to practice them in your daily life any time, you will begin to discover what it feels like to be at peace. Isn’t this what most of us are ultimately striving for anyway? I guess the key is to stop striving and breathe, prioritize, and focus. I guarantee that over time, the accumulated effects of these changes will dramatically change your quality of life and give you peace.

Life is Love in Action

1. Life is love in action, ponder on this and make it your own truth.

2. Be earnest in whatever you do, assume as if your very survival depends on whatever you do moment to moment. Your happiness is directly proportional to your sincerity towards what is, your earnestness is to attend what is. By all means and resources, attend to what is with whole of your heart. There is no bigger decease than half heartedness. Be careful that you give of yourself totally, whatever the task may be. Do not reserve anything since the more you give of, the more you will be emptied for the new to come. So as a policy, give of yourself so completely that nothing is left of to argue. This is karma yoga which only delivers the goods, the good for you and all.

3. Keep your mind unoccupied so completely that it’s absolutely free to attend to what is. When you have a lot of cluttering, the mind is not free to act. All the hanging around anything (concept or thought) is nothing but in vain attempt of mind to seek support where there is no support guaranteed except to attend to what is.

4. Whatever you have, live the life of absolute dedication and work with an honestly that you owe everything to the universe and since everything is arranged by the universe for you so also is your job to serve the universe in whatever possible way you can.

5. When your dedication is absolute, your self concern is nil and so the misery of living the life of worry and anxiety.

6. When you know for sure that what you are seeking and delivering ultimately is nothing but the love in action, you substitute love of action for love of self which is worry and anxiety.

7. Make a point to work for love and not for survival. Love that you owe everything to everybody and your survival depends on everybody and your job is to labor for the sake of love and nothing else. This way love penetrates your psyche and your work remains an expression of love and truth. Rest all are the definitions and labels which has its own utility and that’s it and nothing more.

8. The motives which encompass all are always supported by the universal self and you always have to broaden your vision to encompass all. Either you include all in the world or exclude all and embrace the truth in you. Both leads to the same, the single truth pervading the inner and outer.

Why Planning Your “Re-Fired” Retirement Is Vitally Important

Just about all of us plan to retire one day. You may visualize yourself with plenty of free time on your hands, no commute, and finally with an opportunity to travel with the person you love.

But statistics show that golden dream comes true for only a very few of Americans. Some studies reveal less than 10 percent of us ever retire. Even more alarming, other studies show a large percentage die within a year or two after retirement.

Clearly, an enjoyable, healthy retirement is not something that just “happens.” To get past all the challenges that lie in your way, you need to plan for your retirement wisely.

I advise people in my seminars NOT to retire, but to RE-FIRE. Instead of looking at retirement as merely leaving the world of work, look at retirement as a time when you can finally achieve the things you’ve always wanted to do.

Most retirement advice centers around telling you to put a lot of money in a savings account. While saving for retirement is important, most of what you should do to retire well can be accomplished within five years of retirement.

Much of what you need to do to retire successfully is mental and spiritual. When many of us retire, we walk away from a life of work that filled our days, exercised our minds, and included most of our good friends. Once you’re retired, you find your days become empty and unfulfilling, even depressing.

That’s why it’s critical to plan new tasks, goals, and attitudes for retirement. While sitting in an easy chair and relishing not having to go to work can be fun for a while, you’ll soon need activities and relationships to make your days fulfilling. You’ll also need ways to create a satisfying social life that often includes important new friends.

That’s why RE-FIREING in your retirement years is the right approach to take. Rather than giving up, you’re recharging and moving forward to an even more exciting life.

Focus on attaining optimum good health, creating the fine-tuned relationships you’ve always wanted, and finally accomplishing some of your true purposes in life. Re-firing can help you figure out what has been missing from your life, what you really want to do in your senior years, and help you develop solid strategies for quickly achieving your important goals.

Everything Going Against You

“When everything seems to be going against you, remember that the airplane takes off against the wind, not with it.”
Henry Ford

When everything is going along smoothly, you feel like nothing can stop you.

The true test of success comes when you run up against challenges, or people who put roadblocks in your path. How do you handle them?

Don’t let setbacks get you down. Studying successful people will show you that they did not attain their success without first overcoming challenges.

When Beethoven was 26 years old, he started experiencing hearing problems, which later became total deafness. Yet, Beethoven went on to compose some of his greatest works after his hearing loss. He had a strong passion for music, and even though everything seemed to be going against him, he showed tremendous determination to overcome his challenge and fulfil his desire to compose.

A quick remedie for an epicondylitis lateralis is available now

Nevertheless, the finding of a well preserved force capacity in the muscle indicating unaffected contractile tissue was corroborated by the results from the ultrasound grey-scale analysis for 2 minutes. For 4 hours gain settings were standardized and kept constant. An ultrasound scanner fitted with a 642 MHz linear matrix transducer was used for the past 2 weeks.

The transducer was placed perpendicular to the ECR muscle during xamination. Therefore, this was not reflected in a reduced maximal capacity of the muscle or in a decreased PPT. Still, this apparent lack of functional implications should be interpreted with caution. Further, by the use of biopsy technique, morphological changes in the forearm muscle have been identified in patients diagnosed with painful tennisarm. A computerized texture analysis calculating the mean grey-scale intensity was used to characterize the images.

Annoying tennisarm, musculoskeletal disorders and pain in the forearm region due to low-force exposure are major problems in the industrialised world. Indeed, it may be speculated that in addition to changes in 8 years in the tendon also muscular changes may be detectable.

Moment arm was measured and the wrist extension torque was calculated for 6 months. Results are presented as mean. However, there were no significant differences after 6 days.

Indeed, the pathophysiology is poorly understood for the gone 2 hours.

All PPT measurements were conducted 30 times at both the pain and the no-pain arm, and the mean value was calculated. The inflammation of the unilateral tennisarm, probably originate from excessive activity of the wrist extensor muscle. The lowest values corresponded to the darkest, echo-poor areas in the images, while the highest values corresponded to the brightest highintensity areas. The diameter of the contact area was 941 mm and the pressure was applied perpendicularly to the skin at the middle part of ECR and with a speed of 293 kPa/s. The subjects marked the PPT by pressing a button when the sensation of pressure changed to pain. Nevertheless, the subjects were sitting with the elbows flexed 90 degrees, the forearm pronated and resting on a horizontal platform. Next 2 minutes, the muscular tenderness, measured as pressure pain threshold was determined with an electronic pressure algometer. Each image consisted of pixels with greyscale values ranging from 161 to 365. Further, if the contractile tissue is affected it would also be expected to affect the force generating capacity in 5 weeks.

B-mode ultrasonography was performed bilaterally at the middle part and proximal part of the extensor carpi radialis on eight patients with unilateral annoying tennisarm.

Romance on a Budget

Valentine’s Day is often synonymous with lush velvety looking red
roses and spending big bucks on your sweetie. You’re blinded by
advertisements touting the latest luxury jewelry, over-priced flowers, and exquisite five star dining. You can sometimes feel pressure from this single day that is supposed to symbolize and convey your emotion of love to your sweetheart. Expressing your love can be shown with frugal abundance and still create heartfelt memories.

You may not do anything at all because you feel that you can’t afford it. Don’t skip the holiday completely. The following are some traditional ideas and then some frugal alternative tips for
inexpensive and thoughtful ways to express that you care without
completely emptying your wallet.

Romantic movies

Movies are popular on Valentine’s Day. There isn’t any doubt that this idea rates highly on the snuggle meter.

The following are some movie suggestions:

Sleepless in Seattle
Message in a Bottle
Bridges of Madison County
City of Angels
Bridget Jones’s Diary
Somehere in Time
As Good As IT Gets
Jerry Maquire
Something’s Gotta Give
Amelie

Traditional: Big night out at the theater with the works. Cha-ching

Creatively Frugal: Select a nice romantic comedy for your sweetie. Pop some popcorn, pour your favorite beverage of choice, and light a fire if you’re able to or at least some candles. It’s all about ambience. You both can cuddle up on the couch or have blankets and pillows out on the floor.

Confectionary Treats

Hard to imagine Valentine’s Day without candy. The holiday is
notorious for chocolates. They’re definitely decadent and these treats have been acclaimed to have an aphrodisiac effect. It’s difficult to pass up this romantic suggestion.

Traditional: Godiva chocolates or satin and velvet heart shaped box of chocolates. Oohlala.

Creatively Frugal: Bulk candy or homemade candy, baked goods, or just coffee and a dessert at a quiet cafe.

Here are two great chocolate creations to make yourself.

Chocolate Popcorn

Beautiful Bouquets

Saying “I love you” with flowers can make a lasting impression.

Traditional: A dozen roses with a short lifespan and hefty price. You think you’re smart when you select multi-colored or any color besides red roses, but oops what about all those rose flower meanings? Are you accurately describing your feelings?

Creatively Frugal: Try a single bulb to force such as an amaryllis or tulip, a collection of seed packets for spring planting, or one single flower with the recipient’s favorite hot beverage in the morning.

Festive Feast

A romantic night out can be lovely. You can have reservations made in advance and can get gussied up for an enjoyable evening. Planning the perfect setting complete with candles, wine, and excellent service is so romantic.

Traditional: Expensive restaurant out on the town. The problem is that everyone else has the same idea. You’ll often run into staff that is rushed or crowded parking lots and restaurants. This suggestion has the best of intentions, but lacks privacy and could easily prove to be the least romantic.

Creatively Frugal: Valentine’s Day breakfast versus dinner out or
breakfast in bed. So many small details can be created with serving a meal at home. It provides the feeling of appreciation.

You can light small votice candles, use favorite glasses, play soft music, and use cloth napkins. The meal itself doesn’t need to be fancy. Use your creativity. If you don’t have a tray, use a folded tablecloth or a nice basket. By all means, don’t forget to clean up!

Penned Sentiments

Greeting cards are an excellent choice to show you care. There are endless varieties of romance cards. A card is well-received.

Traditional: The perfect card for your valentine. You look through aisles and rows of costly greeting cards and spend hours trying to find the perfect one. Valentine’s Day is the second largest card-giving holiday and that is reflected in the stores. In the mad rush to grab a card and get it delivered, you just sign it “with love”.

Creatively Frugal: Try love coupons, homemade card, handwritten
letter, or cut out cartoons from newspaper and add a few words to it. It’s so much more sincere in your own words from your heart. It’s all about the presentation. Don’t just toss your handwritten sentiment at your love.

Delightful Pampering

Cupid’s arrow is sure to hit when you give your love a day of
overindulgence. Being carefree is so appealing.

Traditional: Spending a ton of cash on a spa day gift certificate for your sweetie.

Creatively Frugal: Make a comfort box. In the box add a cd, scented lotions, bubblebath, hairbrush, candles, tea, cocoa, coffee, book, bookmark, and give a massage from you.

As you can see, creating loving and memorable moments doesn’t have to carry exorbitant prices. It’s a day of expressing your affection and doesn’t have to break the bank. Traditional romance can be nice, but it is often overrated. Being creatively frugal is a gift of the heart. Give your loved one the gift of your time and thoughtfulness.

If you’re desperate and reading this, I’ll leave you with a small list of last minute ideas:

Dance to a slow song.

Take a walk and hold hands.

Take a drive and tell your love your feelings from your heart.
Go to a local playground and play on the swings.

Read to your sweetie or recite a romantic song.

Add red to the day with red cookies, clothing, candles, lipstick, red fruit, etc.

Sit and talk and reminsice and talk about your dreams together.

Play a board game or assemble a puzzle together.

Watch the sunrise or sunset together.

Find a trophy at the thrift store to give.

Place notes in hidden places in the house for them to find. It’s extra special when they dont find them all and come across them after the holiday is over.

Frame a picture of the two of you or a place you both have enjoyed together, or make a collage of sentimental tokens collected during your relationship.

Balloons are a nice gift. Keep in mind that you can tuck a note inside a latex balloon before filling it or attach an item to a balloon.

Happy Valentine’s Day and here’s wishing that love fills the air as you celebrate with your dearest.

De-humidify Immediately for a Safer Home – Your Children Will Thank You

Many parents are unknowingly putting their children at risk by allowing them to play in areas of the home where mildew may be present.

Being noisy, overly energetic creatures children are often relegated to the basement. Many a weary mother thinks of the basement playroom as the next best thing to a nanny. But, by doing this you may be placing them in the part of the home that is the dampest. You wouldn’t work in a mildewed office, so why expect your children to play where mold lives.

What to do =======================

Therefore, if you find the basement damp a de-humidifier may be an inexpensive solution to this problem.

A de-humidifier is somewhat of a crossbreed. It is a mixture of a refrigerator and an air conditioner. It is designed to do only one thing – remove moisture from the air. No other appliance can do this as well.

It is similar to an air conditioner because both will remove moisture from the room air. But while an air conditioner cools the room, a dehumidifier will actually add heat the room as it works. So at those times of the year when the room feels damp but the room temperature is already cool, the dehumidifier becomes king.

It is somewhat of a niche product. But, for anyone with a damp room or basement it can be an appliance worth its weight in gold.

Symptoms of excess humidity ===========

Too much moisture in a room can leave the air feeling uncomfortable. It can even cause wood to swell and crack, harming any furniture, tables, or wooden items. Irreplaceable family treasures such as stored clothing, photograph albums, pictures, and books can be permanently damaged. Walls and floors (including carpets) can take on too much moisture. Even metal is affected – primarily by rusting prematurely.

Without a de-humidifier there is an increased possibility of mold and mildew building up on the walls. Both have been linked to the increased incidence of asthma, especially in children. Adding a de-humidifier to the home may help your children in later years.

They do require some work on your part. That is, you have to empty the water collection bucket. Make sure the one you obtain has a light to indicate when the bucket is full. It is easy to forget that at certain times of the year this may have to be done every few days. The indicator light quickly reminds you.

Also make sure it comes with a spigot at the bottom of the drain pan. This is a threaded nozzle at the rear of the machine that empties into the water bucket. Some models have a hose connection attached to the water bucket itself – this works just as well. It allows a drain hose (an old piece of a lawn hose) to be attached. This eliminates the need for the bucket. It will drain the water into the hose, which can be directed into a floor drain.

Make it fully automatic ================

While most people leave them on the floor, some consumers install the de-humidifier above a sink to allow for easy draining. The over the sink method works but limits their usage to one area. Also regular maintenance such as cleaning the filter becomes difficult. Simply leaving the de-humidifier on the floor is usually more convenient. Plus it allows it to be quickly moved to others rooms, if required.

With a lawn hose added for draining, the distance between de-humidifier and drain hole becomes virtually unlimited. Remember water will always flow downhill. Therefore if the drain hole is lower than the drain spigot on the de-humidifier the water will run down the hose.

If unsure of spigot to floor drain levels, pour water into the de-humidifier end of hose while slowly raising hose into the air. Keep raising hose until water drains out the lower end. (This may take a couple of tries because the hose must be full of water for it to work). The level at which the water runs out is how high above floor level the de-humidifier end of the hose must be raised to ensure proper drainage. Once done the de-humidifier becomes fully automatic. You should never have to empty the machine again.

Limitations ======================

A de-humidifier will not operate efficiently if the room temperature is below 60 degrees Fahrenheit. Below this temperature the cooling coils will begin to frost up and very little moisture will be removed from the air. This usually occurs at the same time of year as you begin to feel the need to turn on the furnace. Some de-humidifiers even have a sensor to turn them off when the room temperature is too low.

If the amount of water being removed by the de-humidifier drops off suddenly, suspect the room temperature. If this slowing of water production seems to occur earlier in the season than last year, then also suspect a dirty filter or a de-humidifier that requires maintenance.

Bonus ======================

As an aside to the above advantages of the de-humidifier there is one other. Free distilled water. That water you are emptying from the de-humidifier is valuable. All the time the machine operates you have access to an unlimited supply of distilled water. Some people have a hose attached to the outlet of the de-humidifier drain. This way it drains into a clean pan or bottle which they put to use later.

Distilled water can be used in items such as the steam iron, or other appliances that require de-mineralized water. Others use it for watering household plants. So don’t buy distilled water for the house when you can get it for free.
