Visiting Day after the Baby Was Born

So many people came to see the baby. The only baby in the family in almost 20 years! At one point in the day we had 18 people in the room. 25 visitors all day. The baby was so good. My wife and I were so tired, neither one of us had really slept since Sunday night. After the last visitor left at 8:00 p.m. we thought that we could get some sleep. Wrong! As soon as we started to get fall asleep, the crying started. Crying because she was hungry, crying because she was uncomfortable. Then she would sleep for a few minutes then cry again. After we found out how to soothe her (she likes being rocked) we took turns so the other could get some sleep. It was a long night, but I thing that we each got about an hour of sleep. The next morning, however we all got to sleep for about 4 hours straight. Ashley’s got the breastfeeding thing down, all is right in the world! We got to go home, late in the afternoon. I am sure my baby little girl is going to love her first car ride, finally we all get to go home as a family.

The Game of ‘Did Your Email Message Grab My Attention?’, Distribution Pending

I have an interesting morning work routine. It’s sort of like a game really.

I call it – “which Email Marketing messages will I read today and which Email Marketing messages will I delete without reading?”

or

Did Your Email Message Grab My Attention?

I have to play this game because if I read every Email Marketing message I received I would never be able write in this blog, attend to personal hygiene or do anything else for that matter.

So how does the game work?

It is pretty simple really. There are only three rules.

1. Scan the SUBJECT lines of emails in your inbox and see which Email Marketing messages grab your attention.

2. Only open the Email Marketing messages that grabbed your attention.

3. Delete the Email Marketing messages that didn’t grab your attention.

After playing the Did Your Email Message Grab My Attention? game the other day I wondered if anybody else plays this game too?

I asked around and found out that everyone else I knew played Did Your Email Message Grab My Attention? as well!

I was so happy!I thought I was the only one!

Maybe there was an opportunity to issue a board game or a game-show called:

“Did Your Email Message Grab My Attention?”

My mind exploded with ideas on how I could market this new game that already had such a wide player base.

After about 10 minutes of getting quite high on my own ‘Did Your Email Message Grab My Attention? game distribution euphoria’ my kettle started whistling and I was suddenly jolted back to reality.

I thought of all the poor little email marketers that had spent so much time and effort on constructing the email messages that I was playing my game with.

Was I being heartless?

How could I take something like an Email Marketing message and turn it into a game?

I pondered my behavior long and hard and then thought…

Wait a minute!

I gave these companies permission (in most cases) to email me. I did not tell them I would open and read every message!

I quickly re-entered my ‘Did Your Email Message Grab My Attention? game distribution euphoria’.

I’m already one step ahead of the competition!

My market research indicates everyone is already playing the game (unofficially) so I know I there is a good chance my ‘official version’ will sell like hotcakes!

People Accusing You of Sending sp*am? Five Email Marketer Must Know Tips

People tend to forget their subscriptions. Sometimes they don’t
even know why they subscribed to your newsletter. Especially if the
person is seeking for information, he/she will subscribe to every
ezine or ecourse that will come across their search. They don’t
remember it after a while. If you send email to them after few months,
they simply accuse you of sending spam.

So how to safegaurd yourself from this type of accusations?

You only gets the subscriber ips when he/she subscribes using a form. If they
subscribed using email addresses, the ip will not be grabbed by your
autoresponder software.

2. Use Double opt-in:

Some of the marketers say that ‘You have to make it easy for the subscriber
to receive your emails’. So people tend to neglect to implement double opt-in.
They think that it will be a hassle for subscriber to click on the confirmation
link in the email. Remember one thing… if they are really interested they will
click, not one… more than that to receive information from you. This type of
list is best to target your information and to get some profits from it.

3. ‘Unsubscribe’ link:

Put ‘Unsubscribe’ link in every email in the footer area. Sometimes subscribers
subscribe using subscriberATdomain.com, redirects his email to
subscriberATdomain2.com. Then he tries to unsubscribe using second email, which
obviously not in your database and he can’t be removed by your software. Then
he/she will get upset that you are sending spam. So tell them that use the same
email address that they used to subscribe, to unsubscribe. You can put this
information under your unsubscribe link.

4. Privacy statement:

Create a tag in your autoresponder like [privacy_statement], if your software
allows it. Then put this tag in all email below ‘Unsubscribe’ link. Let this
privacy statement should be similar that you put on the subscription form web
page. If your autoresponder software don’t allow tags, then put url to your
privacy satement on your web page.

5. Authentication Seals:

How to Build Your List

Your list is your life. If you do not have a list of customers and prospects, you may do okay in your business but you won’t be great. The one and only thing that separates great marketers from okay marketers is the effort great marketers put into building their list of prospects and customers.

Say you sell an ebook on internet business. If it sells for $27 you make a nice profit. But if you don’t collect customer and prospect emails, $27 is all you will ever make.

A better idea is to build an opt-in email list of people who like the topic you will be informing them. Give away a free report or an email course as a way to get subscriptions. Then, when they buy your $27 ebook, you make a profit and can keep marketing to them. If they don’t buy your ebook, you don’t lose them forever. As long as they stay subscribed, you can market to them again and again.

So how can you build your opt-in email list? Here are three super tips to get you started.

Organizing Your Mailing Lists For Your Email Promotions

With all the safelists and different methods for using them, it can get hectic trying to come up with a good way to post to them. Most of all, it is important to remember if you did post to them. With a little forethought, you can set up a mailing system that will mail out your daily mailing in no time at all.

Aureate Group Mailer is a very common tool used today for mailing. All references will be for that program, but the methods used can be adapted to any mailing program.

We tend to look at the lists as having 4 types. Below is our break down of these types and how we post to them.

LIST TYPES

1.Web based CGI

You have no choice really but to put all these types of lists in a bookmark folder. You might name these: “SL Daily”, “Monday mailing” etc., grouping each folder by when you can mail. Also putting the actual day for posting is better than putting 3 X a week etc.That way you don’t have to think when the third day was; just mail on the day listed. We give this method our highest ranking for being safe to mail to because you’re mailing from the list owner’s site and the scripts, in most cases, won’t allow you to double post on the same day. Also, you don’t mail directly to the individual address.

2.Web based email lists of individual addresses

The most time consuming and unsafe to use is the list of individual addresses you copy from websites or email . We say unsafe, because it is our belief that when you are mailing to a direct address, it is easier to forget disclaimers, putting you at greater risk of reaching people on a bad day who may have forgotten they were on the list in the first place, and who do not know how to check their mail properties to track where and why your mail came to them. It is really simple for them to click “FORWARD” and send a spam complaint. THAT they CAN do!

We use Aureate Group Mailer for this list type, and make a group for each list. Modify each group to reflect the disclaimer the list host provides, and mark the name of the list as to when it can be sent. When you import the updated lists, Aureate will automatically remove duplicates, but will leave the addresses that have been removed, so always delete the old list before importing the new one.

This is an example of our list setup in Group Mail. It includes all the types of lists:

  • daily-The List (a list that had to be copied and imported)

  • daily-Klub Kaos

  • daily-ce12001 Egroups etc (lists that need a disclaimer on top

  • daily-ce12002 Egroups etc use merge)

  • daily-sever-lists (lists you post to a server with using one address

  • Sunday-Smart List server includes disclaimer)

  • Sunday-Jaz List

  • Sunday-Ontopicmail weekly

  • Sunday-Egroup Special weekly

  • Monday – Money pro Mail Weekly

  • Monday-Ribnik 2 X Week

I need to mention that you must update your type 2 list each time you send it out, or you are tempting fate. People drop off the list all the time. Just because a list has had 250 members for 3 days, does not mean it’s the same 250 people. When someone asks to be removed, they expect to happen in 24 hrs. If you don’t update, you can easily spam someone.

3. List Servers These are lists hosted on a private server that has a list server program installed on it. Many hosting companies offer it with their hosting package. Look to see if they supply the disclaimer to the ads you send to that list. If they do, then you can group the lists in one group divided only by the email account you subscribed to the list with. Since you must use the same address you subscribed with, group according to that address. If they don’t supply the disclaimer,then create each list in its own group, according to the disclaimer.

Note: It does matter if the list owner says no disclaimer is needed. If they don’t append one to your post, then you must add one. Always give a reader of your ad the choice to opt out of the list. ALWAYS!

4. Optin Groups – The Big 4 Separate these types of lists from the others because you want to make sure to include a disclaimer on top. Use address merge in the the disclaimer and send by individual send, because merge won’t work in bulk send. Also, divide them by email account subscribed to.

Accurate and efficient mailing benefits you enormously in two ways: First, you are saving time by setting up a system that makes it easy for you to remember what to mail next and to whom. Most importantly, however, is that it aids you in making a minimum of mistakes, thereby reducing your chances of offending a reader with perceived spam. As we all know by now, it is not your intent that defines spam, rather the reader’s perception. Hope this can be of use to you…..

Say More Than “Thank You”

Most Websites are gathering e-mail addresses. When you submit your e-mail address, you will be redirected to a thank you page. There is nothing wrong with it, but that page can do more than saying “thank you.”

–The Result–

A while ago, I added some affiliate links to my thank-you-for-subscribing page. (You can see it at http://www.thatswise.com/popups/redirect/thanks_subscribe.html .) Even though you can close the window or go back to the home page, 98.8% of viewers of that page have clicked one of the links listed. This is astonishing when compared to the click-though ratio of banner ads on my site, which is about 0.9%. And, 98% is not a stat of one lucky day. It’s an average of one year.

–They Will Listen–

98% sounds unrealistic, but it makes sense. Visitors subscribe to your newsletter because they liked your site in some way. So, they will listen to you as they listen to their friends. When you recommend some places to go, most people will go.

Additionally, you will get better results if you link to a page with one product rather than linking to a page with a lot of products. People who have submitted to you an e-mail address are open minded. This is the time to tell them your recommendation (your favorite product), not to show them options (list of your products).

–Note–

However, do not use this technique on a thank-you-for-ORDERING page. If you send buyers to another Web page asking them to buy more things, visitors will feel you are trying to suck all the money they have. You may add links on this thank-you page, but be selective which pages you’ll send buyers to. I am not saying up-selling won’t work. Up-selling does work. You have to up-sell before receiving payments, not after you received payments. Chasers at McDonald’s ask, “Would you like to have French fries with that?” when you order a burger, not after you have paid for your order, don’t they?
