Naveen Jain: Doing Good Is Part of Business

Seattle community and business leader Naveen Jain recognizes the role that businesses must play in society. Corporate social responsibility is something valued at Intelius, a Bellevue-based security and information provider that conducts background checks, verification services, people searches, and screening services.

As Intelius’ CEO and cofounder, Naveen Jain believes that doing good forms part of the responsibility of the corporate sector, and the best way to live up to this duty is through corporate philanthropy.

Jain said in an address to a recent Overlake Service League benefit luncheon that it is the responsibility of business leaders to find ways of doing better, especially when it comes to the community or society.

Jain believes that by identifying the needs of the community and giving to organizations that focus on addressing their needs, businesses can help make a difference in other people’s lives. In so doing, businesses could play a role in “offering hope” and “making lives worthwhile.”

Naveen Jain has taken his company aboard in his philanthropic initiatives. Through the Employee Giving Program and the Employee Matching Program, employees are now actively involved in doing good by giving donations that are matched by the company and through hundreds of volunteer hours in community service for their choice charities.

As a devoted husband and father of three children who grew up in the community, Naveen Jain has also extended a valuable example to his family. Together with his wife Anu, who heads the Community Service arm of Intellius, they are slowly touching other people’s lives through their generosity towards several charities and nonprofit organizations dedicated to children, health, hunger, and education. They have contributed over $450,000 in donations to United Way, Children’s Hospital, HopeLink, Tree House, Boys and Girls Club, America India Foundation, Vedic Cultural Center, Seattle Art Museum, Children Rights & You and the University of Washington.
